Ohio State Leads Early 2009 Football Recruiting

Rivals.com has handed out the first report card for the 2009 college football recruiting classes and the Ohio State Buckeyes have a grade of A+ so far.
The Buckeyes have received commitments from 23 prep prospects, the most by any team in the nation. Ohio State has landed eight of the Rivals Top 100, including 5-star LB Dorian Bell.
Southern California is in familiar territory, coming in at No. 2 on the early list. The Trojans have received commitments from 14 prospects including QB Matt Barkley, widely considered as one of the Top 5 players nationally. USC has landed five of the Rivals Top 100.
Another familiar team at the top of the recruiting rankings are the Texas Longhorns. Rivals lists Texas as the No. 3 class at the moment, with the Longhorns having received commitments from 19 prep players. Garrett Gilbert, the 15th ranked player nationally and the No. 3 QB is the prize of the the Longhorns class to date. Texas has received commitments from five of the Top 100.
New head coach Rich Rodriguez has apparently hit the ground running as the Michigan Wolverines come in at No. 4 in the early rankings. Michigan has commitments from 12 prospects, including 5-star DT William Campbell. The Wolverines have received commitments from three of the Top 100.
Louisiana State is No. 5 in the early rankings, with the Bayou Bengals receiving commitments from 13 prospects, including Russell Shepard, the nation’s No. 4 ranked player and the No. 2 QB. LSU has landed two of the Top 100.
Rounding out the Top 10 classes are Florida State, Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma and Michigan State.
The Tennessee Vols are currently listed as the 14th best class in the early rankings with a total of 11 commitments, including 4-star WR Je’Ron Stokes. The Vols have received commitments from one of the Rivals Top 100.
Seven SEC schools are listed in the Top 25, the most of any conference. The ACC is next among the BCS conferences with five teams, followed by the Big 10 with four, the Big 12 with three, the Pac 10 with three, and the Big East with two.

Moondog,
Man that looks good to me that we have a QB that the so-called experts think is very good. Here’s the kicker though. Both BCS Titles won by LSU has been done with mediocre QB’s. Marcus Randall and Jemarcus Russell were better than Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn but neither could get us there.
Hope he don’t turn out like our last QB who was highly recruited and is now playing for Jacksonville st. what a dumb ass kid he is. Although I do hope he gets his shit together and learns something while he’s there.
