Bruins QB Olson Out For Two Months
Published by MoonDog on August 11, 2008
UCLA quarterback Ben Olson broke his foot during the Bruins preparation for the season opener and will be sidelined for at least two months.
X-rays taken Sunday revealed Olson broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during practice this past Saturday. He suffered the same injury during spring practice.
It was announced late Monday that Olson would undergo surgery to repair the metatarsal. Kevin Craft, a junior college transfer, and redshirt freshman Chris Forcier will compete for the Bruins’ starting job.
Craft was the leading candidate after Olson and former No. 1 QB Patrick Cowan were injured on consecutive days during practice.
Cowan had surgery after hurting his knee in spring practice and will miss the season.
UCLA opens its season at home against Tennessee on September 1.
