Cowboys & Eagles In The NFC

Dallas Cowboys
There’s a certain blond that’s going to be very happy with me (not that she isn’t already) because I’m taking the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles to play for the NFC championship in January 2009. The Cowboys are primed for a Super Bowl run and the Eagles improved their personnel on both sides of the ball this past offseason.
The Eagles defense is always solid with coordinator Jim Johnson running the show and free agent acquisition Asante Samuel will bolster an already strong secondary. While Donovan McNabb’s health has become an issue over the past several seasons, the Eagles can depend on Brian Westbrook, recently signed to a three-year extension.
Westbrook is perhaps the most versatile offensive player in the NFL and even when teams scheme to stop him, he finds a way to get yards.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the league, if not the most. Dallas returns all of their core players from last season and the addition of veteran LB Zach Thomas will provide the Cowboys with leadership. Dallas had a solid draft, picking up Felix Jones as the backup to starting RB Marion “The Barbarian” Barber.
If QB Tony Romo can stay focused on the field and keep his mind off of Jessica Simpson’s goodies, Dallas has plenty on offense to score a ton of points. Jason Witten has solidified himself as one of the premier TE’s in the NFL and Terrell Owens looks ready for another great season.
Just for kicks, here are the teams I believe will make the playoffs in the NFC.
Dallas, Philadelphia, Green Bay, New Orleans, Washington, Seattle.
I’ll reserve my picks for the Super Bowl at a later date.

It’s deemd to be the sexy pick to go with Dallas. But they’ve still yet to win a playoff game in over a decade. And that’s something that I’m not overly enamored with. I note that you don’t even make a point to substantiate that fact.
There’ve been improvements to the team but at the same time that’s not really a clear indication as to how they’ll fare.
And if anyone’s on the hot seat then it’s got to be Wade Phillips. Anything but a postseason berth and he’ll be shown the door by Jerry Jones.
As to the Eagles as McNabb goes , so does the rest of the team. And in Westbrook they’ve got one of the most underrated and least lauded backs in the league.
