Border Wars: College Football Recruiting Battles
By MoonDog | January 8, 2009
Everyone knows the success of any college sports program is dependent upon the coaching staffs’ ability to recruit talented prep prospects. With the college football season nearly at a close, the battle for the nation’s most talented high school players never comes to an end.

Jelani Jenkins
As national signing day approaches, 24 of Scout’s top 100 and 23 of Rival’s top 100 prospects remain uncommitted. As you might expect, both recruiting services differ on which players reside in their respective top 100 lists.
Among one of the prep prospects that have yet to announce his decision is Jelani Jenkins, a 6-2, 220-pound linebacker from Olney, Md. Jenkins is being recruited most heavily by Boston College, Florida and Illinois and he’s set to visit the Illini on January 23.
Manti T’eo, a 6-2, 225-pound linebacker from Honolulu is considering offers from BYU, UCLA, USC, Stanford and Notre Dame. T’eo has scheduled an official visit to BYU on January 10.
Reuben Randle is Rivals No. 1 overall prep prospect and is considered to be the most sought after wide receiver in the nation. At 6-2 and 195 pounds, Randle is being recruited by LSU, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Miami and USC. Randle has taken one official visit thus far to Oklahoma on November 22.
Devon Kinnard is a 6-3, 255-pound defensive end from Phoenix who many believe has narrowed his college choices to Texas and USC. One-time University of Tennessee commitment Tajh Boyd is by most accounts the best quarterback that has yet to make a commitment.

Marlon Brown
Boyd, a 6-1, 210-pound dual threat quarterback from Hampton, VA is considering offers from Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon and West Virginia.
Another talented wide receiver that has yet to make a commitment is Marlon Brown from Memphis. The 6-5, 210-pound Brown is Tennessee’s Mr. Football Award winner in Division 2-A and is considering offers from Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Georgia and Ohio State.
Scout and Rivals have their top two recruiting classes in reverse order, with Scout ranking Ohio State’s class as the best with LSU coming in second.
Rivals has LSU first and the Buckeyes second, but either way you look at it, both programs have landed a wealth of talent.
Ohio State has received commitments from 24 prep players with six among Scout’s top 100. Highlighting the Buckeyes list of commitments is linebacker Dorian Bell, a 6-2, 227-pounder from Monroeville, PA.

Ohio State Head Coach Jim Tressel Has Signed a Very Talented Class
LSU has received commitments from 21 prep players with five among Scout’s top 100. The Tigers landed Craig Loston, a 6-1, 190-pounder from Houston. Loston is the nation’s best safety according to Scout.
USC has received commitments from eight of Scout’s top 100 to lead all schools. USC has landed Matt Barkley, the nation’s top prep quarterback and Vontaze Burfict, the top middle linebacker.
Other top recruiting classes include Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and North Carolina.
Auburn, at one time considered to have a consensus top 5 class by Scout and Rivals, has fallen in the rankings after losing nearly half their commitments after former coach Tommy Tuberville was forced to resign at the end of the season.
Auburn is currently listed as the No. 20 best recruiting class by Scout and No. 23 by Rivals.
The SEC has dominated conference rankings for the past seven years and 2009 will be no different. Nine of the SECs 12 teams are listed among the top 25 recruiting classes by Scout, and eight of the top 25 according to Rivals.
The Big 12 is a distant second, with four of the top 25 classes according to Scout and Rivals.

Elvis Presley, David Bowie Share Birthdays Today
By MoonDog | January 8, 2009

Elvis Presley
The king of rock and roll and one of Britain’s most successful singer-song writers share January 8 as their birthdays.
Elvis Aaron Presley, the small-town boy from Tupelo, MS, was born on this date in 1935.
He moved to Memphis in the late ’40s and became a pop culture icon, topping the Billboard charts with 18 No. 1 singles over the course of his career.
Presley hit the big time in the early ’50s after recording two solo records at Sun Studios in Memphis, owned by the legendary Sam Phillips.
Elvis’ first single, “That’s All Right” was aired on July 8, 1954, by DJ Dewey Phillips on radio station WHBQ. Listeners to the show began phoning in, eager to find out who the singer was.

David Bowie
From that day forward Elvis would become one of the highest-paid performers in history. It is estimated that Presley has sold over 1.5 billion albums world wide since his debut.
David Bowie has been active in five decades of rock music and frequently reinvented his music and image. Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He has been cited as an influence by many musicians.
Throughout his career he has sold an estimated 136 million albums and ranks among the ten best-selling acts in UK pop history. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 39th on their list of the 100 Greatest Rock Artists of All Time.
This is a video from one of Elvis’ early TV appearances in the 1950s.
One of my personal favorites from Bowie.

Simoni Racing 2009 Calendar
By MoonDog | January 8, 2009
I don’t know much about Simoni Racing and I don’t know much about the model that appears on every month of the calendar.
But this much I do know: Simoni Racing selected a very hot chick to adorn their 2009 calendar.
As with many calendars I’ve posted over the past few months, not all of the images are posted here. By now, all of you know what that means. Some of the images contain explicit nudity.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it just makes my friend Ethan nervous when he sees naked chicks. So if you want all of the images, you can download them here.
In the meantime, enjoy this small gallery and remember to check out all of the 2009 calendars on the site which include:
Marisa Miller, Gemma Atkinson, Keeley Hazel, Jennifer Ellison, Sammy Braddy, Lola Ponce, Edel Weiss, Nena Ristic, the Big Breast All-Stars, Hot Cars, Hotter Chicks and the Private Porn Stars.

Blondes Have More Fun
By MoonDog | January 8, 2009

Blondes Have More Fun!
A blond calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started.”
Her boyfriend asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”
The blond says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.”
Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.
She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.
He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,
“First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.”
He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then,” he said with a deep sigh…
“Let’s put all the Corn Flakes back in the box.”

Sooners Are Gator Bait; SEC Wins Third Straight BCS Title
By MoonDog | January 7, 2009
Some may think the title of this post may be more aptly applied sometime around midnight on Thursday, after Florida defeats Oklahoma in the BCS national championship game.

Florida QB Tim Tebow Will Give The Sooners Defense Fits
But that’s exactly what the headline will read because Oklahoma can’t stop the Gators from claiming their second BCS national title in three years.
The Sooners don’t know it, but they’re about to find out the Gators are on a mission and have been so since they lost to Ole Miss 31-30 on September 27.
No team in college football has been more dominate over the last three months of the season. Florida has won nine straight, including victories over five Top 25 opponents, winning by an average margin of 36 points.
Florida earned the right to play for the national championship after winning their seventh SEC championship by defeating Alabama on December 6.
Oklahoma will be seeking their second BCS national championship after winning the Big 12 championship with a win over Missouri.
Unlike many who believe the key to this game will center around Florida’s ability to stop the Sooners high-powered offense, it will be the Gators superior special teams play that proves to be the difference.
For a team like Oklahoma that has had season-long issues with their kickoff and punt coverage, that doesn’t bode well when Florida’s Brandon James is arguably the most dangerous kick returner in the nation.

Oklahoma's Offense Will Have a Hard Time Against the Gators Defense
As we’ve seen throughout the course of this season, the Big 12 Conference possessed five of the best offenses in recent memory. Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Missouri all ranked in the top 10 in total offense this year.
However, the Big 12 lacked strong defensive teams and that too will serve as a detriment when the Sooners line up against Florida. The Gators will easily field the best defense Oklahoma has seen all year.
Florida’s speed, depth and athleticism will be more than a match for the Sooners offense. Keep in mind this game will be played in Miami, ostensibly a home game for Florida.
Given all of those advantages, Oklahoma will serve as Gator bait on Thursday night. Florida’s victory will give the SEC its third straight BCS national championship and fifth overall since the BCS system went into effect.
Check out more posts about the Gators-Sooners game from around the blogosphere as part of the Gunaxin Blog Bowl.

New Season of Nip/Tuck Means More Joely Richardson
By MoonDog | January 7, 2009
Tuesday night’s season premier of Nip/Tuck seemed to be about getting the show refocused on its roots - the main characters Sean and Julian.
While actress Joely Richardson hasn’t been seen as prominently since the show first aired in 2003, she still makes for great viewing pleasure with her good looks and outstanding acting.
Joely’s character has evolved to say the least. She was married to Sean but had a child with Julian and ended up playing for the other team when she hooked up with Portia De Rossi.
Nip/Tuck has had a myriad of interesting plot lines to say the least.
But Joely has consistently provided good performances and did so while looking brutally hot. She has two of the most ravishing eyes on earth and those incredibly long legs gives pause to consider the possibilities.
Even if you don’t like Nip/Tuck its hard not to like Joely Richardson. Enjoy this gallery of Joely and don’t do anything weird while you’re looking at the images.
