Cheerleading Nuns In Sardinia
Published by MoonDog on December 11, 2008
My first duty station while serving in the U.S. Navy was in the town of La Maddalena, Sardinia, about 100 miles from Sassari.
Actually, La Maddalena is where I resided; the base was on the tiny island of Santo Stefano just off the coast about 15 minutes by boat from La Madd.
Basketball fans in Sassari – Sardinia’s second largest city – were recently treated to a special halftime show.
A group of nuns, monks and priests performed a routine to disco music while wearing traditional robes and habits.
The group is on a tour of Italian discos and nightclubs to spread the message of Christianity to young people.
Naturally, it didn’t take long for the routine to make onto You Tube. Check out the video and listen to the enthusiasm they generate.
