It’s tough being great and powerful, especially when you have no idea how you achieved your greatness.
Google apparently updated their Page Rank algorithms and many site owners got a nice surprise on January 1.
I just came across a post from Grandmaster B who wrote a nice piece on a Page Rank checking tool for Word Press users you can plug in to the platform. I just installed it and it works fine.
What’s my Page Rank you ask? My site improved from a 4 to a 5, mostly because a lot of people linked to me with equal or greater PR.
For those of you that may not know it, that’s the key to earning a higher page rank.
Some other sites of note whose PR increased or remained constant: Deadspin – 8, Awful Announcing – 6, Yep Yep – 5, SEC Football Blogger – 5, Gate 21 – 5, Third Saturday in Blogtober – 6, The World of Isaac – 4, Hugging Harold Reynolds – 6 and No Guts No Glory – 5.
Congratulations to everyone whose PR increased!

We went from 0 to 5. Since we are a new site, we were stuck without a page rank for the past couple months. Thanks too all those that linked to Gunaxin, including Moondog of course.
I’m told that this is a big deal, but honestly am about as naive as can be on the subject. If it hadn’t been for your article, however, I probably wouldn’t have even realized it. Thanks for catching that…
Thanks for the info MoonDog. I had heard about the ranks before but never knew how to figure it out. Good to know.
Thanks for the linkback MoonDog. I’m glad you found the post useful and informative. Congrats on moving up the Page Rank ladder.
