I Got Traina’d, Boom Went The Server

If you’ve been fortunate enough to get a link from Jimmy ‘Server Killer’ Traina, the sports blogosphere’s best friend, you may know a thing or two about the horrors of blowing up your hosting company’s server.

I don’t blame Traina, it’s really Jessica Biel’s fault. If she wasn’t so brutally hot, all of this wouldn’t have happened.

This past Monday, Jimmy was kind enough to link a post I wrote regarding Biel’s birthday, complete with a nice gallery of images. Considering how popular Biel is you can imagine the interest the post generated.

It generated so much interest I got a call from my hosting company around 11:00 a.m. last Monday. They told me the site was receiving so much traffic, I brought their server down.

They dinged me for a network violation and unilaterally shut down my site, without giving me any notice. Long story short, this past week has been a nightmare trying to get the site back up.

As a result of all this, I’ve moved the site to a new host. Media Temple offers powerful servers at a reasonable cost and from what I understand, several of my fellow site owners have their sites hosted with them.

In order to test the new servers, I’m hopeful Traina posts another link to the site in the near future. Hey, the only way to know if they’re going to hold up is to put them under a stress test, right?

I want to thank Isaac for turning me on to Media Temple and Grandmaster B for taking care of the migration to the new host as well as addressing the many server-related issues that had to be resolved.

I also want to thank Lawvol for his efforts and support throughout the process, for without him the site wouldn’t be back up and running.

My apologies to those advertising on this site. I’ve adjusted the renewal dates for everyone and will run your ads longer to offset the down time.

Now it’s time to get back to the business at hand. That business, of course, centers around what I do best – produce the world’s most pathetic excuse for a sports web site.
