The fallout over John Calipari’s move to Kentucky may be underway. ESPN.com is reporting that big man DeMarcus Cousins will switch his commitment from the University of Memphis to the University of Kentucky.
The Mobile, Alabama native had only verbally committed to play for the University of Memphis next season. He is a 6-10 center and one of the top high school players in the country.
Now that former assistant Josh Pastner is the new head coach at Memphis, fans are waiting for word on other top recruits.
Xavier Henry signed a letter of intent to play at Memphis, but he has a clause that lets him leave if John Calipari leaves.
Recent comments made by Henry suggest he will sign with the University of Kansas, the school his father played for during the 1980′s.
Point guard John Wall was also said to be considering playing for the Tigers, but that may now be in question as well.
The ESPN.com article says that Calipari and Kentucky hope Cousins’ choice will influence John Wall’s decision on where to play.
Several players for Memphis during the 2008-2009 season are committing to stay under new coach Pastner, including Wesley Witherspoon and Roburt Sallie.
