Favre’s Agent: ‘He Wants To Win a Super Bowl’

Just a few thoughts came across my mind when listening to comments made by Bus Cook, agent for retired quarterback Brett Favre.

With the news of Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress flying to Hattiesburg, MS to meet with Favre today, Cook said his client was bitter about the treatment he received from the Packers last year, specifically from GM Ted Thompson.

Cook also attempted to claim Favre’s potential return to the NFL as a member of the Vikings wasn’t about a vendetta against Green Bay. Rather, Cook said Favre’s return was based purely on the opportunity to win a Super Bowl.

I’ve got two words in rebuttal to the aforementioned comment – Bovine Feces.

If Favre were truly interested in winning a Super Bowl, there are no less than five teams in the NFC he could play for that have a much better chance of reaching the Super Bowl than Minnesota.

Favre’s annual flirtation with retirement and the prima dona act that comes with it has grown so old it has enough mold on it to manufacture a year’s supply of penicillin.

While Favre may actually care about winning a Super Bowl, it has nothing to do with winning one for Minnesota. It has everything to do, however, with preventing the Packers from winning one, or so it would seem.

Granted, the Vikings are in need of a solid quarterback to go along with a strong running game lead by Adrian Petersen.

Minnesota does have an adequate defense and the NFC North is perhaps the third best division in the NFC, making a Super Bowl run a possibility.

But in the real world where teams like the Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, Falcons and Cardinals all have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, the Vikings would be hard pressed to make an appearance in Miami in February 2010.

Moreover, what exactly do the Vikings think a soon to be 40-year-old quarterback will bring to the table?

Just as he did last season with the Jets, Favre may play well during the first eight weeks or so, but as the season wears on, he’ll begin to break down and become less productive, even potentially doing more harm than good.

If Favre really wants to win another Super Bowl, he’ll buy Madden ’09 and guide whichever team he chooses to the promised land. That’s the only way he’ll win another Super Bowl because he won’t win one with the Minnesota Vikings.
