UK Politicians Dumber Than U.S. Counterparts?

The United Kingdom government has been blasted for wasting GBP300,000 of taxpayers money on a study to prove that ducks prefer water.

You read that correctly. UK taxpayers spent the U.S. dollar equivalent of $475,291.37 to prove that ducks do in fact prefer water.

A three-year study was funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) in a bid to ‘ascertain the importance of bathing water to ducks’ so they can be properly treated at indoor farms.

The study concluded that ducks prefer standing under a shower, which has riled farmers and MPs who claim the study didn’t need to be carried out.

Devon chairman of the National Farmers Union Anthony Rew says, “They (DEFRA) are looking for farmers to help with costs, if they asked a farmer, he would tell them ducks like water.”

Or perhaps a gentlemen serving in the House of Commons might want to visit a lake at some point, stand on the bank and look out onto the water.

It’s a good possibility he would see a duck paddling around in the water, thus deducing that ducks prefer H2O and saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands.
