Happy Birthday Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum, recently listed as the world’s second-highest earning supermodel and an Emmy Award-nominated television hostess, celebrates her 36th birthday today.

Klum was born in a small town just outside of Cologne, Germany. She was persuaded by a friend to enroll in a national modeling contest called Model 92. Out of 25,000 contestants, Klum was voted the winner and offered a modeling contract. She accepted the contract a few months later after graduating from school.

She was second behind Gisele Bundchen on Forbes magazine’s list with earnings of $16 million over the past 12 months.

In July 2007, Klum was named by Forbes magazine as third on their list of the World’s Top-Earning Supermodels, having earned $8 million in the previous 12 months. In 2008, Forbes estimated her income at $14 million, putting Klum in second place.

Klum has appeared on the covers of numerous magazines, including Vogue, ELLE and Marie Claire. She came into the public view after appearing on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and for her work as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

In addition to modeling, Klum has appeared in several TV shows, including Spin City, Sex and the City, Yes, Dear, and How I Met Your Mother.

Klum has landed roles in several films including Blow Dry, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, The Devil Wears Prada and Perfect Stranger.

Klum was the Emmy Award-nominated hostess of Project Runway and Germany’s Next Topmodel, and is a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
