Porn Star Considers Run For Louisiana Senate Seat

Stormy Daniels, a 30-year-old porn star born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is considering a run for the U.S. Senate, admitting her political ambitions may seem “ludicrous” but insists she’s seriously considering a challenge against incumbent Senator David Vitter.
Daniels, also known as Stormy Waters and simply Stormy, began the exploratory process in May after a group of fans started the website DraftStormy.com which led her to form a “listening tour” in Louisiana last month.
Daniels is not affiliated with a political party but is focusing her tour around Louisiana on the economy, in addition to issues involving women in business and child protection.
She told FOX News on Sunday that she’s still trying to gauge whether “this is something that I want to do, if I’m capable of doing it.” But she said if she makes her run official, she’ll do everything in her power to “make it legit.”
And she suggested the public interest in her candidacy says more about Vitter than it does about her.
“If I was an outsider looking in, I’d think it sounds ludicrous. It really does,” she said. “And I guess the whole thing is that (the public) dislikes David Vitter so much that they think I’m the best person for the job – then I mean that’s kind of scary.”
Vitter, a Republican, took a hit when he confessed in 2007 to “a very serious sin in my past,” referring to his link to the so-called D.C. Madam.
Vitter’s telephone number appeared on the old phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates, the prostitution ring run in the nation’s capital by Deborah Jeane Palfrey.
Daniels attended a magnet school in Louisiana and was the editor of her high school paper and president of the 4-H club.
She began stripping at age 17 at a club in Baton Rouge then expanded to become a full time porn time actor in 2002 when she appeared in the film Heat for Wicked Pictures.
In 2004 Daniels won the Best New Starlet Award from Adult Video News and has appeared in dozens of men’s magazines, including Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse, High Society, GQ, and FHM.
She was named Penthouse Pet of the Month in February 2007 and she’s also written for FHM magazine. Daniels has appeared in several mainstream movies and television series as well.
In early 2007, she appeared in Dirt on the FX Network, where she played a stripper who helps to set up a basketball player played by Rick Fox. Daniels made a brief appearance in the film The 40-Year-Old Virgin as Steve Carell’s character Andy watches her in a video.
Although Daniels’ potential run for a Senate seat is unique, it’s not the first time a porn star has entered the world of politics.
During the 2003 California recall election, Mary Carey ran for governor as an independent candidate, placing 10th in a field of 135 candidates.
Carey ran on an eleven-point platform that included somewhat tongue-in-cheek promises of taxing breast implants, making lap dances tax-deductible, and creating a “Porn For Pistols” exchange program.
