Happy Birthday Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman, the Israeli born actress that made her debut in 1994 as the world’s youngest contract killer in The Professional, celebrates her 28th birthday today.

Portman was born in Jerusalem but her family migrated to the United States when she was three. She got her start in show business the very next year at the age of four when she began taking dancing lessons.

By the time she was 10, Portman was approached by an agent from cosmetics giant Revlon to model their products. She turned down the offer to focus on her dream of becoming an actress.

Portman became best known for her role as Padme Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Portman, who stated that she would “…rather be smart than be a movie star,” earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard University while she was working on the Star Wars films.

Blessed with Audrey Hepburn features, Portman is a stunning woman that embodies typical Mediterranean good looks as the images below bear out.
