Minka Kelly, the California girl who is reportedly dating New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, celebrates her 29th birthday today.
Kelly is an only child and the daughter of former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay and the late Maureen Kelly, a former Las Vegas showgirl.
Kelly claims she got hooked on acting after her first class and immediately began to pursue a career as an actress.
In 2006 she was cast as Lyla Garrity on the television production Friday Night Lights. In preparation for the role, she trained with the Pflugerville (TX) High School cheerleading squad.
Kelly has received praise for her acting on the TV series, with the New York Times calling her performance “heartbreaking.”
Speaking of heartbreaking, Kelly has been doing that with her looks ever since she hit the big time on Friday Night Lights.
