Allen Iverson To Memphis?
Published by MoonDog on July 3, 2009
Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal is reporting NBA free agent Allen Iverson is interested in playing for the Memphis Grizzlies this up-coming season.
The 2001 NBA MVP and nine-time NBA All-Star has made it clear through his representatives that he would like to play in Memphis.
The Grizzlies have received word of Iverson’s interest and could be seriously considering adding him to the team’s youth movement.
One thing that is clear, Iverson will have to take a pay cut from the $21 million he received last season and possibly come off the bench regardless of what team he signs with.
On Iverson’s Twitter account he stated that he is healthy and is willing to contribute to a team to make it better.
“My only preference will be to play for a coach that knows what I bring to the table and that I am going to bring it every night,” posted Iverson. “Someone that knows how to best utilize my skills to make our team the very best that we can be.”
Iverson was said to have problems coming off the bench last year for the Detroit Pistons. His season ended April 3 with a back injury.
