ESPN’s ‘Mort Goes To Camp’ = FAIL

If the first edition of ESPN’s Mort Goes To Camp is any indication of what we’ll see over the next 30 days, NFL fans looking for training camp news regarding their favorite teams are going to be very disappointed.
ESPN’s NFL reporter and “insider” Chris Mortensen is on a bus tour of training camps where, one would think, he reports on position battles, rookie holdouts and injuries.
Not.
On his first stop of the tour, Mortensen visited San Antonio where the Dallas Cowboys are holding training camp this year.
After about 20 seconds of footage inside the Alamodome where the Cowboys were conducting practice, the remainder of the two-minute segment was spent with Mortensen and Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones comparing their buses.
Mortensen seemed giddy to discover the ESPN bus was a few feet longer than Jones’ bus.
Riveting stuff.
The highlight of the segment had Jones placing a sticker on a map indicating Mortensen had been in San Antonio to visit the Cowboys training camp.
Mind you, he didn’t actually do anything remotely related to reporting football news while he was there, but by Joe, he was there!
I’m thinking business must be really good for the “Worldwide Leader” if they can afford to put Mortensen on a pimped out bus, send him on a tour of NFL training camp sites, pay for fuel and other associated costs, and have him essentially do nothing.
Except of course comparing buses. That he’s got down pat.
