I was watching the news halfheartedly last night when I caught a glimpse of what I thought was violence erupting at a town hall meeting, only to discover that all was right in the universe when I learned it was only soccer fans acting normally.
By normally I mean they were raising hell, throwing bottles, stabbing fellow human beings and engaging in near physical confrontations with riot police.
According to the BBC News, investigations have begun into riots at West Ham’s Upton Park near east London that took place on Tuesday night before a soccer game.
That’s right, rioting before the game. Nothing says fun like a riot before the game even begins. Any respectable soccer fan knows it’s common courtesy to wait until the game begins before you start rioting.
A local drinking establishment had its windows broken by bricks tossed by card carrying AARP members shouting anti-Obama slogans.
Eyewitnesses also told of soccer fans – disguised as senior citizens attending town hall meetings – trying to rip out street signs, lighting fires and accusing government officials of being anarchists.
