Anyone following college football knows the state of Florida is perhaps the most fertile recruiting grounds in the United States, annually producing hundreds of prep football players that are pursued by virtually all of the major programs.
Signing the most talented prep prospects is the life blood of any successful college football program.
Often coaches will employ unique methods to attract a particular player or will sometimes “put a fence” around a certain area perceived to be highly important to a school’s recruiting base.
One such unique method being used by Ed Orgeron, the Tennessee Volunteers recruiting coordinator, is the strategic placement of billboard advertising throughout the state of Florida.
In a not so subtle way, Orgeron has sent a message to everyone – including Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyers – that he owns the state and will get all of the top-rated high school football players to sign with Tennessee.
Take a look at the photo below at one such billboard Orgeron is employing in the state of Florida. Note the directness of his message to the state’s best football players.
