Dallas quarterback Tony Romo had a career day on Sunday, passing for 353 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Cowboys to a 34-21 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Romo’s three touchdowns were all over 40 yards, connecting with Miles Austin on a 42-yard pass for Dallas’ first touchdown to put the Cowboys up 13-7 with 46 seconds remaining in the first half.

Romo hooked up with Roy Williams early in the third quarter, throwing a 66-yard pass to the Cowboys new number one wide receiver that gave Dallas a 20-7 lead.

After Tampa Bay scored on an 11-play, 84-yard drive that cut Dallas’ lead to 20-14 with 13:45 remaining in the game, Romo had his longest touchdown pass on the Cowboys next possession.

Taking over at the 19, Dallas needed only two plays to score when Romo found a wide open Patrick Crayton, who raced 80 yards for the touchdown to put the Cowboys ahead 27-14 with 12:43 left.

Romo completed 16-of-27 passes for the day, and the Cowboys two scoring passes of 80 and 66 yards were the first time Dallas Dallas-Cowboys-Wide-Receiver-Miles-Austin-Scores-Against-Tampa-Bay.jpghad two touchdown passes of greater than 60 yards in one game since 1962.

Dallas rolled up 462 yards of offense against the Buccaneers, including 118 yards on the ground. Running back Marion Barber led the Cowboys with 79 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Crayton finished with 4 catches for 135 yards, Williams had three receptions for 86 yards and tight end Jason Witten caught 5 passes for 71 yards.

Tampa Bay’s Byron Leftwich completed 25-of-41 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown. The Buccaneers new starting quarterback wasn’t sacked but was under pressure for most of the game and took several hard hits.

The Bucs’ Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward each scored on 1-yard runs for Tampa Bay, who rushed for 174 yards against the Cowboys.

Williams, back after having surgery twice in 15 months, finished with 97 yards on 13 carries while Ward had 62 yards on 12 carries.

Dallas will play their home opener in the new Cowboys Stadium next Sunday night against the New York Giants.

I think Romo is going to have a Pro Bowl season and show he is better of without TO on the team.

I agree. Not having to force the ball to T.O. in order to pacify him will allow the Cowboys to spread the ball around. They have enough playmakers to create multiple matchup problems for any opposing defense.
