NFL Week 2 Risers and Fallers

With Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books and Moondog Sports is ready to share the Risers and Fallers.

It is easy to say the defensive units are still developing their identity and trying to gel together. Over the weekend, fans saw fifteen teams score at least 24 points during their games. Of those teams, eleven of those teams earned a win.

Currently we have nine teams who own a 2-0 record while there are nine teams who have yet to taste victory.

The St. Louis Rams lead the way when it comes to incompetent offenses, scoring a grand total of 7 points in two games. On the flip side, the New Orleans Saints scored 93 points so far this season.

Up ArrowThe New York Jets
The Dolphin blood that flows through my veins absolutely hates giving the New York Jets any credit, but how can I not after the way they handled the Patriots. Not only did they win the game, this was the first time the Patriots vaunted offense did not score a touchdown since 2006. Kudos to the Jets who right now look like a force to be reckoned with in the AFC.

Down Arrow4Tony Romo
So much for Romo being the man in Dallas. Not only did he ruin the inaugural game at Jerry Jones’ pride and joy, he gave T.O. something to Twitter about. If the Cowboys are going to make the playoffs this year, Romo needs to cut down on the interceptions and get the ball into the hands of his receivers.

Up Arrow1Ray Lewis
When Ray Lewis is making his acceptance speech for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the ones running the show should have a continuous loop of the tackle Lewis made on the San Diego Chargers Darren Sproles to win the game. Even if he has lost a step, he is still one of the top linebackers in the league.

Down Arrow5The Race for the # 1 NFL Draft Pick
The Lions, Rams, Browns, and Chiefs all took another major step in realizing a dream. The only question is which team will be the first to screw things up and actually win a game? The team with the best shot in Week 3 is the Detroit Lions who will face the less than stellar Washington Redskins.

Up Arrow2New Orleans Saints
The Saints followed up their victory last week with another dominating performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. They racked up 48 points on 421 total yards of offense. Is there anyone in the NFC who can slow down this team enough and make sure they score less than 30 points? Up next for the Saints is the Buffalo Bills.

Down Arrow6Unsigned Rookie Michael Crabtree
So far Crabtree is still willing to sit out the season. Even better is that the 49ers have filed tampering charges against the New York Jets, saying they have been trying to work out a deal with him. All I can say is remember what happened to former USC Mike Williams who sat out a season before entering the NFL. If I was a general manager, I would not touch him with the ten foot pole.

Statistical Line of the Week

Kansas City Chiefs – 409 total offensive yards and 10 points

Oakland Raiders – 166 totals yards and 13 points

How did the Chiefs not win this game????
