Kate Winslet, an Academy Award winning actress who is perhaps most famous for her roles in the films Titanic and The Reader, celebrates her 34th birthday today.
Winslet began taking acting classes at the age of 11 and made her film debut at the age of 19 when she starred in the 1994 film Heavenly Creatures.
The following year she received recognition for her supporting role in the 1995 film Sense and Sensibility and in 1997 following her performance in the boxoffice blockbuster Titanic.
Her subsequent Academy Award nomination for Titanic made Winslet the youngest actress to receive two Oscar nominations. At the age of 33, she became the youngest actress to receive six Academy Award nominations, a mark previously held by legendary screen actress Bette Davis.
Winslet was listed No. 99 on AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2009 and has appeared in many other print publications, including GQ.
While she doesn’t immediately come to mind as one of the hottest celebrities, Winslet is nevertheless very lovely and has a great figure as the photos of her in the gallery below bear out.
