Allen Iverson Tweaks Hamstring, Misses Grizzlies Debut

The Memphis Grizzlies made their preseason debut on Tuesday night without newly acquired guard Allen Iverson. The veteran guard has a strained left hamstring according to Grizzlies’ media relations staff.

Iverson missed Tuesday’s game against the Washington Wizards in Richmond, Virginia. Team officials say he’ll also miss Wednesday night’s preseason home opener against Oklahoma City at FedExForum.

Tuesday’s game was a homecoming for the 10-time NBA all-star, who grew up in Hampton, Virginia.

Iverson, who missed this morning’s shoot-around, tweaked the hamstring during Sunday’s scrimmage at the Grizzlies’ training camp in Birmingham. He’ll have an MRI on Wednesday. Also not playing Tuesday was second-year forward Darrell Arthur, who strained a pectoral muscle during training camp.

The Grizzlies lost Tuesday’s game against the Wizards 101-92. Newly acquired forward Zach Randolph made his debut, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
