Let’s Help Jim Zorn Find A Moving Van

I just got off the phone with Sports Illustrated’s Peter King who just got off the phone with Washington Redskins Executive Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato regarding head coach Jim Zorn.

There seems to be some confusion about Zorn’s tenure with the Redskins according to King who said…oh wait, he’s back on the phone again.

Anyway, while we’re waiting on King to get off the phone, it would appear Zorn isn’t going to be around long enough to spend Thanksgiving in the nation’s capitol, at least not as the head coach of the Redskins.

Since I’m a self-avowed, life-long Dallas Cowboys fan and I’m contractually obligated to hate the Redskins (even though I don’t, I dislike them, but I don’t hate them), I thought it would be a nice gesture to help Zorn locate a good moving service to facilitate his pending relocation.

A quick search revealed there are several moving services in the Washington, D.C. area that would be more than capable of running Zorn out of town. For many Redskins’ fans, Zorn leaving town isn’t happening fast enough.

A company called Best Time Movers sounds like they could handle Zorn’s needs. A brief description of their service states: “At Best Time Movers we will do anything to make moving as smooth as possible.”

If anyone needs a smooth move, it’s Zorn. Did anyone see the Redskins against the Chiefs on Sunday? There wasn’t anything smooth about that. In fact, the Redskins were the antithesis of smooth.

Washington managed just 265 yards against a Kansas City team that’s ranked 29th in total defense. The Chiefs are the fourth team to record its first victory of the 2009 season against the Redskins. Over the last 30 years, only one other team lost to four previously winless opponents: the Cleveland Browns in 2003.

If Best Time Movers doesn’t sound like a good fit for Zorn, perhaps we can give Pack ‘N Roll Moving, LLC a chance.

Pack ‘N Roll’s company profile says this: “Here at Pack N’ Roll, we are driven by customer satisfaction. We believe in honesty, fair prices, and great customer service. We also understand that moving is a challenge.”

jim zornSpeaking of challenges, the Washington offense is so bad it’s reached a point where Cerrato told King on Sunday night – after he just got off the phone with him – that Sherm Lewis, hired by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder on October 6 as an “offensive consultant” – will take over play-calling duties from Zorn.

Lewis, a long-time NFL assistant, has spent the past five years away from the league as a bingo parlor barker.

If that development doesn’t spell MOVING VAN, I don’t know what does. Or in Lewis’ case, that spells BINGO!

It’s unlikely Lewis will have much impact on the team’s offense or derail the inevitable dismissal of Zorn. But in reality, the Redskins failures can be directly attributed to Snyder.

Despite all of the money Snyder has spent on free agents in the recent past and the merry-go-round of coaches he’s hired to run the team, Washington has made only three playoff appearances since he bought the team in 1997 and hasn’t won the NFC East since 1999.

The Redskins were once a model of consistency when Jack Kent Cooke owned the franchise, with long-tenured coaches George Allen and Joe Gibbs guiding the team to multiple playoff appearances and Super Bowl titles.

Now the boys who fight for old D.C. look just as discombobulated as the politicians populating the capitol.

Since Snyder isn’t going to sell the Redskins anytime soon, it’s unlikely he’ll be searching for a moving service, but the coach he hired – Zorn – most assuredly will.

It’s only a question of when and which moving service Zorn will use. I’m sure King will let us know all the details as they develop, or at least he will when he gets off the phone.
