Perhaps hung over from their big win over LSU from the previous week, the Florida Gators remained atop the MoonDog Sports 2009 SEC Football Power Poll after getting a scare from Arkansas.

Florida, the top-ranked team in the nation, needed a 27-yard field goal from Caleb Sturgis with 9 seconds remaining in the game to defeat the Razorbacks 23-20. Florida (6-0, 4-0) will host Mississippi State next Saturday.

The No. 2 team in the nation got 246 yards rushing from Mark Ingram to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a 20-6 win over No. 22 South Carolina.

Alabama (7-0, 4-0) was sloppy against the Gamecocks, turning the ball over four times and committing 10 penalties, but the Crimson Tide defense held South Carolina (5-2, 2-2) to 278 yards to offset the erratic play of quarterback Greg McElroy.

Ole Miss (4-2, 1-2) bounced back from their loss to Alabama last week with an easy non-conference win over UAB, thumping the Blazers 48-13. The Rebels will host Arkansas (3-3, 1-3) next Saturday in Oxford.

Kentucky (3-3, 1-3) got their first SEC win of the season with a come from behind 21-14 win over Auburn. It was the second straight loss for the Tigers (5-2, 2-2) after winning their first five games to start the season. The Wildcats defense held Auburn’s high powered offense to 315 yards and got their first win over Auburn since 1966.

Kentucky didn’t commit a penalty for the entire game and got two 100-yard rushing performances from Derrick Locke and Randall Cobb, with Cobb scoring the game-winning touchdown on a 4-yard run with 3:357 left.

Georgia (4-3, 3-2) bounced back after their embarrassing defeat to Tennessee last week with an easy 34-10 win over Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs get a week off to prepare for top ranked Florida while the Commodores (2-5, 0-4) travel to Columbia to take on South Carolina.

Mississippi State (3-4, 1-2) got a 27-6 non-conference win over Middle Tennessee State on Saturday. The Bulldogs forced four turnovers and held the Blue Raiders to 248 yards. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen will take his team to Gainesville next Saturday to face his former boss Urban Meyer.
