Happy Birthday Tila Tequila

Tila Nguyen – better known by her stage name Tila Tequila – and a former Playboy magazine Cyber Girl model, celebrates her 28th birthday today.
At the age of 18 Tequila began her career in earnest when she was spotted at a local mall by a Playboy magazine scout. After a test shoot, she was featured as Playboy’s Cyber Girl of the week in April, 2002, and in August 2004 she became Cyber Girl of the Month.
Her MTV reality show A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila premiered in October 2007. She also appeared as a Hooters Girl in the 2007 film I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. She was also the host of the Fuse TV show Pants-Off Dance-Off and at one time had the most popular page on MySpace.
Tequila was featured on the cover of the April 2006 issue of Stuff magazine. She appeared on the cover of the August 2006 issue of Maxim magazine and was named No. 88 on their Hot 100 List. She was ranked No. 100 on the Maxim Hot 100 List in 2008.
In September 2009, Tequila was allegedly choked and restrained by her boyfriend at the time, linebacker Shawne Merriman of the San Diego Chargers. Merriman was arrested but claimed he was only trying to prevent Tequila from driving while intoxicated.
Tequila denied those claims, citing an allergy to alcohol although her allergy has been disputed. San Diego district attorney Bonnie Dumanis decided not to charge Merriman after her office spent three days reviewing reports from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Tequila’s life has been a bumpy ride, even more so as of late. But there’s no denying her popularity and the tons of photos that can be found of her on the Internet bear that out.
