Burger King, Microsoft Team Up For Windows 7 Whopper

Burger King has released a gut-busting seven-patty Whopper to mark the release of Windows 7.

In what may be the most bizarre cross-promotional campaign ever, Microsoft linked up with the fast-food chain to create the ‘Windows 7 Whopper.’

The fatty burger behemoth contains more than 2500 calories, is 5.1 inches tall and costs just 777 yen – about $9.

It went on sale in outlets in Japan last week to coincide with the release of the new operating system.

Although the promotional picture looks relatively appetizing – well, sort of – the actual product left a lot to be desired.

“‘I need to shower after holding it in my hands,” said customer, Kyoko Yamamoto, after merely trying to get a grip on the sandwich.

The grease factor aside, computer users were also mystified by the idea of using a gigantic fast food burger to promote new computer software.

Computerworld.com writer Preston Gralla said: “Given that Microsoft has been criticized for releasing top-heavy, bloated operating systems, this could be one of its worst promotional ideas ever.”
