Crompton Has Huge Game As Vols Crush Memphis

Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton completed 21-of-27 passes for 331 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Volunteers to an easy 56-28 win over Memphis.
Tennessee (5-4, 2-3) built a 42-7 halftime lead and cruised to victory over the Tigers. By the break, Tennessee had outgained Memphis 382 yards to 104 and had gained 11 more first downs. The Vols rolled up 566 yards against an overmatched Memphis defense
Crompton threw touchdown passes to Denarius Moore, Gerald Jones, Luke Stocker, Quintin Hancock and Nu’Keese Richardson.
Backup quarterback Nick Stephens also hit Moore for a touchdown after replacing Crompton midway through the third quarter.

Memphis RB Curtis Steele Runs Against Tennessee
Jones led the Volunteers’ receivers with 97 yards on four catches.
Memphis (2-7) was led by running back Curtis Steele with 144 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.
Next up for the Vols is Ole Miss next Saturday in Oxford. Tennessee can become bowl eligible with a win over the Rebels. Ole Miss (6-3, 2-3) defeated Northern Arizona last night. The game is set for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff.
