Gawker Properties Tops Among 25 Most Valuable Blogs

The Web site 24/7 Wall St. compiled its annual list of The Twenty-Five Most Valuable Blogs in America on Tuesday, with Gawker Properties topping the list with an estimated value of $300 million.
According to 24/7 Wall St., valuations were determined by several criteria, namely the amount of unique visitors and page view information as per data from several public sources including Alexa, Quantcast, Compete, and comScore.
Other factors used in determining blog values included estimated CPMs for ads based on the current display and text ad environment, the quality of ads at each blog, and the number of ads that it runs on the average page.
Gawker Properties is the group of blogs which includes Gawker, Deadspin, Gizmodo, and Lifehacker. In total, those four blogs combine to receive about 23 million monthly unique visitors and 250 monthly million page views.
Nick Denton, owner of Gawker, told 24/7 Wall St. that business is highly profitable and growing. Denton also says that advertising revenue has performed better than expected.
The top five most valuable blogs according to 24/7 Wall St. are:
1. Gawker Properties – $300 million
2. Huffington Post – $112 million
3. Perez Hilton – $44 million
4. Drudge Report – $42 million
5. TechCrunch – $32 million
