The NFL and college football take center stage while we present the nominations for Champ & Chump of the Week – Nineteenth Edition.

Over the weekend, we saw a rash of questionable decisions on the field. The NFL genius Bill Belichick decided to put the game on the line by trying to convert a fourth down deep in his territory with only a few minutes remaining. Despite what some of the experts have said, Belichick made the right choice going for it. The team lives and dies by their offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew killed fantasy football owners when he decided to take a knee at the 1-yard line. Jones-Drew’s thought process was that they could eat some more time off of the clock before scoring. The problem was the Jaguars were still losing the game at this point. He should have taken the score and allowed the Jaguars defense to do their job.

Jim Harabaugh 100x150Champ – Jim Harbaugh

In case you missed it, on Saturday while the Stanford Cardinals were giving the USC Trojans an old fashioned butt whipping. Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh made news when he decided to try and convert a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter when they were already up by 27 points. When the game was done, the Cardinals handed the Trojans one of their worst losses in school history since 1966.

USC head coach Pete Carroll did not like what Harbaugh pulled when the Cardinals attempted the two-point conversion. Apparently Carroll had forgotten all about those times when they ran up the score on the opposition. Like last year when they destroyed Washington State, 69-0.

Even if this is his last year at Stanford, kudos to Harbaugh for making this statement, if it is good enough for USC, then the rest in the Pac-10 should be able to run up the score if they see fit.

Bud Adams 100x150Chump – Bud Adams

Tennessee Titans owner Bug Adams made news this weekend when he decided to give the Buffalo Bills’ fans the one finger salute. The 86-year-old owner felt it was necessary to show those in Buffalo what he thought of them and of course he was caught on camera. To make this even more intriguing, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was in the luxury box during part of the game.

While there are worse things than the one finger salute, here is the owner of an NFL franchise doing this out in public to the opposition that is being destroyed by his team. With the kind of money Adams is worth, you would think he would have at least paid someone else to do it.
