Not long ago we learned that Wal Mart, the world’s largest retailer, is now carrying caskets for sale on line. However, the selection of caskets Wal Mart offers is pretty basic.
Not that there’s anything wrong with a basic casket, after all, they’re going to be buried six feet under mother Earth. But some folks have a discriminating taste and want only the finest casket money can buy.
For those of us who love sports, the American Casket Store is the only source we need to outfit the recently departed.
According to the company’s Web site, “the Art Casket series exteriors are decorated with full-color photographs, artwork, and imagery that reflect the life of the deceased.”
The Art Casket line includes sports-themed caskets, military caskets, religious caskets, special interest caskets and lifestyle caskets.
The specifications of each casket are well-documented, with the manufacturer stating: “each casket is well-constructed with 18-gauge A-Line steel with gasket, complete with swing bar hardware and premium white crepe interior.”

Each time this casket is purchased a donation is made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which is very cool because Saint Jude’s is the world’s finest children’s hospital and it just happens to be located in the city I reside in – Memphis, Tennessee.
