Lawn Mower Can Reach 100 MPH

A British racer has designed a lawn mower that can travel up to 100 miles per hour hoping to break a world record.

Don Wales, who already holds records for electric cars and for a steam-powered car, is trying to break the record of 80 miles per hour set by a U.S. man in 2006.

The lawn mower is equipped with a standard power lawn mower engine that’s been modified to run on high-octane racing fuel.

It’s also been modified to increase stability and fitted with narrow racing tires to reduce drag.

The lawn mower is also equipped with a standard cutting blade to meet its intended purpose – mow lawns. Wales plans to attempt to break the record in February 2010.
