Brad Pitt Baseball Movie Moneyball Back On
Published by MoonDog on December 8, 2009
Brad Pitt’s baseball movie Moneyball is back on thanks in part to Capote director Bennett Miller.
The moviemaker is in talks to direct the Sony Pictures film, which Steven Soderbergh quit over script issues this summer.
The film, based on Michael Lewis’ book of the same name, chronicles Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, who turned the small market, cash strapped club into winners thanks to an unorthodox method of bringing talented players to the franchise.
Despite a payroll that was roughly five times less than the New York Yankees, the A’s have made five playoff appearances this decade, winning the American League West Division in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2006 and earning an American League Wildcard birth in 2001.
Pitt has been part of the project for more than a year. Miller was Oscar nominated for his work on Capote.
