Danielle Lloyd, the former Miss England and Miss Great Britain who was stripped of her title after posing nude in Playboy magazine, celebrates her 26th birthday today.
Lloyd was crowned Miss England in July 2004 and competed at the 2004 Miss World pageant. In February 2006, Lloyd was named Miss Great Britain.
In November 2006, she was stripped of her title “following recent claims in the press and magazines and the publicity given on the Playboy website for their next issue”, according to the Miss Great Britain website.
The claim they were referring to was that Lloyd had been dating Teddy Sheringham, who was one of the judges of the pageant, for more than two months before her victory.
She attributes her topless shoot for the December 2006 issue of Playboy as the primary reason for the loss of her title.
In January 2007, it was revealed that Lloyd was being sued by the Miss Great Britain company for breaking her contract and bringing the company into disrepute. The company is asking for full revelation of the sums she earned for the Playboy pictures, plus costs.
As a participant in the 2007 series of Celebrity Big Brother, Lloyd, along with others, were accused of using bullying tactics and making racist comments directed against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty.
In 2006, Lloyd made a memorable appearance on BBC One’s Test the Nation. When asked “Who was Winston Churchill – a rapper, US President, the PM or King?”, Lloyd answered, “Wasn’t he the first black president of America? There’s a statue of him near me – that’s black.”
In May 2009, Lloyd was pictured lying on the pavement outside a nightclub, bloodied and clearly upset after an alleged unprovoked attack.
On December 1, 2009, Lloyd announced on her Twitter page that she and soccer player Jamie O’Hara got engaged.
Arguably, Lloyd’s days of being one of the more popular WAGs on the planet may be over, but she can still be seen in photo layouts in various men’s magazine, notably Nuts and Loaded.
