NFL Week 15 Predictions & Four Must See Games

The 2009 NFL season is coming to a close and several teams are still in the playoff picture. Despite this, there are only a few games that may garner much interest this weekend. It will be interesting to see how Indianapolis, Minnesota, and New Orleans react to having their playoff position locked up at this point in the season.
Here are the NFL Week 15 predictions of those teams that will come out on top and keep their Super Bowl dreams alive.
Atlanta Falcons at New York Jets
The Atlanta Falcons playoff hopes are basically over but when they take on the New York Jets, they’ll have a chance to knock out a team who remains alive in the hunt for one of the AFCs Wildcard spots. The Falcons have shown the desire to win but the injuries and missed opportunities have been too much to overcome this year. Running back Thomas Jones will help carry the Jets to a win over the Falcons and end their season.
Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints
The Dallas Cowboys have lost two in a row and are a game behind Philadelphia in the race for the NFC East. Now they will need to travel to New Orleans where they will face the undefeated Saints. The Cowboys have been awful when it comes to their play calling, something they can not do against Drew Brees and company. Though the Cowboys may keep it close, look for the Saints to earn their 14th victory of the NFL season.
Miami Dolphins at Tennessee Titans
The Miami Dolphins seem to be bringing things together with a solid defensive unit and the improved play of second-year quarterback Chad Henne. They will face a tough test against the Tennessee Titans and the NFL’s leading rusher Chris Johnson. Though the Dolphins are average against the run, they will be able to do enough to earn their eighth win of the season.
Cincinnati Bengals at San Diego Chargers
Offensively, the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers are polar opposites. The Chargers have been clutch and scored when needed while the Bengals have been struggling with their passing game. With the loss of wide receiver Chris Henry, we should expect to see a big game from Chad Ochocinco, who will look to honor him. The Chargers are on a roll and will continue at home with a narrow win over the eventual AFC North champion.
The Rest of the Schedule
Houston Texans at St. Louis Rams
The Houston Texans offense will be raring to go and should be able to put up another 30-plus point effort against a St. Louis Rams defense that yielded 47 points to the Titans. Quarterback Matt Schaub will throw for over 300 yards again as he leads the Texans to a .500 record with a win.
Chicago Bears at Baltimore Ravens
The Chicago Bears, who almost pulled out a close one against the Packers last week, will have their hands full when the playoff minded Baltimore Ravens come to town. The Ravens will look to build upon their running game and pound the Bears into submission, while Cutler will throw two more interceptions as the Bears lose another game this year.
Cleveland Browns at Kansas City Chiefs
The Cleveland Browns will still be riding high after their victory over the Super Bowl champion Steelers when they travel to Kansas City this week. Kansas City lost a close one to the Bills, but found a solid running game in the person of Jamal Charles. The Chiefs will rely on Charles again this week to gouge the Browns average defense and earn them another victory.
Arizona Cardinals at Detroit Lions
Last week the Detroit Lions gave up 48 points to the Ravens, this week they will face the Arizona Cardinals, who have one of the more potent passing games in the NFL. Even with the division in hand, the Cardinals will want Kurt Warner to keep his timing with Larry Fitzgerald, both of whom will torch the Lions weak secondary for an easy victory.
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills
Things seem to be falling apart in the New England Patriot empire, which could mean good things for their division rival, the Buffalo Bills. The Bills can run the ball and have a solid defense, enough to knock off the Patriots if they are sleeping. But with the playoffs on the line, Tom Brady will make sure the Patriots do enough to win this week.
San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles
The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a short week and will be tested by the Philadelphia Eagles whose offense exploded against the New York Giants. While the Eagles defense was lacking last week, the 49ers do not have enough offensive weapons to compete with them yet. The Eagles will win a close game and keep their one game lead for the NFC East.
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are a lock for the playoffs but they will be unable to place it into coast mode when they take on their division rival, the Oakland Raiders. The Broncos defense will be able to shut down the emerging Raiders offense and help Denver earn their ninth win of the season.
Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers
At the start of the season, this game had the potential to be one of the best, but with the Pittsburgh Steelers playing themselves out of playoff contention, the only thing left is for the Green Bay Packers to warm up for the playoffs. The Steelers home field should prove to be a solid test for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who should bounce back this week. When the game is over on Heinz field, the Packers will have their tenth win of the season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks
Both teams have been playing awful football; the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been lethargic on offense while the Seattle Seahawks have been unable to mount much defense against a decent offense. Something has to give and it will be the Seahawks defense who steps up and by welcoming rookie quarterback Josh Freeman to the NFL with several interceptions and a Seattle win.
Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers
While the Minnesota Vikings are going to be a lock for the second seed in the NFC, they still have an outside shot at home field advantage. Running back Adrian Peterson will carry the bulk of the load as they take on a Carolina Panthers team that is looking forward to the off-season. The game may be close but in the end, the Vikings will do enough for the win.
New York Giants at Washington Redskins
The New York Giants and Washington Redskins have been scoring points in bunches lately and will be ready for the shootout this week in the nation’s capitol. The Giants still need this win if they want to reach the playoffs, but the Redskins will play spoiler this week and shut down Eli Manning and company.
