Dallas May Put Kicker Nick Folk On IR
Published by MoonDog on December 21, 2009
The Dallas Cowboys are looking for a kicker to replace Nick Folk for at least the remainder of the season, according to a report on Sunday from ESPN’s Ed Werder.
Folk has missed a field goal in his last six games and has missed a league-leading 10 field goal attempts this season.
Folk, who was a Pro Bowler in his rookie season, has made 86.8 percent of his field goal attempts in his career but has been good on just 18 of 28 this year.
Some in the Cowboys organization believe that Folk’s problems are mental and that he has shown that he can’t be trusted the rest of the season, sources told Werder.
Former Cowboys and Washington Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham will be among those kickers looking to replace Folk, who has struggled this season.
The breaking point for Dallas came in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s 24-17 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Folk missed a game-clinching field goal with 2:20 left in the fourth quarter when his kick hit the right upright on a 24-yard attempt.
After the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said something needed to be done with Folk.
