Alabama Will Bring Home Another BCS Title For The SEC
Published by MoonDog on January 7, 2010
All of the hype leading up to the Citi BCS national championship game won’t matter on Thursday night in Pasadena when Alabama plays Texas.
In reality, college football’s ultimate prize was determined before the season ever kicked off. Another team from the SEC would win the BCS title, it just wasn’t clear which one in early September.
Many will attempt to tell you that Texas has a chance to win another BCS title at the Rose Bowl, the same field they defeated Southern California on in 2005.
But all of that talk will amount to nothing, as the Crimson Tide will roll over the Longhorns on their way to the school’s 12th national championship and their first since 1992.
Alabama will also carry the banner for the mighty Southeastern Conference. The SEC has produced five BCS champions since the system began in 1998 and its teams are undefeated in BCS title games.
SEC teams have won three straight BCS national championships, with Florida winning in 2007 and 2009, and LSU winning in 2008.
The Crimson Tide will win the SEC’s fourth straight BCS national championship on Thursday because this Alabama team is on a mission.
That mission began in January 2009 after the Crimson Tide suffered an embarrassing defeat against Utah in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Alabama needed a wake up call in October to remind them of their mission, getting a last second blocked field goal to preserve a 12-10 victory over Tennessee.
If there were any doubts about this Alabama team leading into the conference championship games, the Crimson Tide answered all the questions when they mauled Florida 32-13 in the SEC Championship.
The Gators – college football’s second best team – never had a chance against the Crimson Tide, and neither does Texas.
If the Longhorns think the near miracle win over Nebraska in the Big 12 Conference Championship was their own wake up call, it will prove to be exactly what is was – pure luck.
Texas may believe the Nebraska defense was the best they’ll face, but the Alabama defense is bigger, stronger and faster than the Cornhuskers.
Yes, they’ll play the game on Thursday night but the outcome has already been decided.
Alabama. Roll Tide Roll. Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer. All that.
The Crimson Tide will be crowned the BCS national champions and the SEC will continue to rule college football.
That is all.
