Chrysler Announces a Return To Super Bowl Advertising

Chrysler announced on Thursday that they will be returning as an advertising during Super Bowl XLIV for the first time since 2004.

The automaker will showcase its Dodge brand in a 60-second ad in the first half of Super Bowl XLIV in Miami on February 7.

TNS Media Intelligence says CBS is selling 30-second ads for between $2.5 million to $2.8 million, down $300,000 to $500,000 from a December report that suggested the network was selling ad slots for the NFL’s championship game for slightly more than the $3 million per 30-second ad NBC sold during its telecast of Super Bowl XLIII.

Chrysler wouldn’t say what it paid for its commercial. Spokeswoman Dianna Gutierrez says Chrysler wants to let Americans know it has emerged from bankruptcy protection.

Italian automaker Fiat took control of Chrysler after it emerged from Chapter 11 reorganization in June. Chrysler LLC received about $15.5 billion in U.S. government aid, and the government owns nearly 10 percent of the company.
