Memphis Grizzlies forward Darrell Arthur is close to returning to the court. On Tuesday Arthur was cleared by team physicians to start full contact practices, his last major hurdle before playing in a game.
Arthur, who had surgery after tearing his right partial pectoral muscle during the preseason, has not played a game with the Grizzlies this season.
He has been practicing with the team for the past month on a limited basis.
When Arthur returns to practice on Thursday he will be able to go without any restrictions.
The news couldn’t come at a better time for Memphis. The Grizzlies are 26-22 after Tuesday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, one game behind Oklahoma City for the Western Conference’s last playoff spot.
Arthur will provide much needed depth for Memphis’ limited bench. During his rookie season, Arthur averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds a game.
