Who Dat? Dat Be The Colts Beating The Saints

Super Bowl XLIV appears to have the makings for an entertaining game, but when the clock strikes zero, the Indianapolis Colts will have won their third championship in franchise history.

I really like the New Orleans Saints and I’m glad to see the organization has finally reached a Super Bowl, the franchise’s first in its 43-year history.

But the Saints will be facing an opponent that presents a host of matchup problems for their defense, the most glaring of which is Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning.

New Orleans had success against Minnesota in the NFC championship because they were able to put pressure on Brett Favre.

But in reality, had it not been for Favre’s bonehead pass into the middle of the field late in the game, the Vikings would be seeking their first Super Bowl title since 1976.

Manning is the anti-Favre. Everything he does is virtually the exact opposite of what the Saints saw against Minnesota. Brett Favre Knneling On Field

Favre is the risk taker, a gunslinger, and the guy who always seems to throw one really stupid pass that costs his team a chance to win.

Manning is precise, calculated and approaches everything he does with a well thought out plan in mind. He’s the worst possible matchup for a New Orleans defense that will try to use the same strategy as it did against the Vikings.

Whatever the Saints try to do, it won’t work.

Manning will figure out what New Orleans is doing defensively and once that happens, in the infamous words of Dandy Don Meredith, “Turn Out The Lights, The Party’s Over”.

Perhaps for no other reason than Manning, New Orleans will have to wait for another year to earn their first Super Bowl title.

Who Dat? Dat be Peyton Manning, future member of the NFL Hall of Fame and the guy who is on his way to Disney World with the Lombardi Trophy.
