Saints-Colts Most Watched TV Program Of All Time
Published by MoonDog on February 8, 2010
Super Bowl XLIV was super in more ways than one, not only becoming the most watched Super Bowl of all time, but drawing the most viewers of any television program ever.
Nielsen reported earlier numbers on Monday that made Super Bowl XLIV the most watched in 23 years, but those numbers did not reflect time zone adjustments.
As of 2:00 p.m. eastern, those time zone adjusted numbers had been calculated. The Saints-Colts game drew 106.5 million viewers, easily beating last year’s Super Bowl record of 98.7 million viewers.
The 106.5 million viewers also beat the previous most watched program. Long-time TV series M*A*S*H came to a close in 1983 with a two-and-one-half hour series finale that drew 105.97 million viewers.
It should be noted that the Household ratings average for Super Bowl XLIV won’t surpass the series finale of M*A*S*H, with the Korean War series drawing an amazing 77 ratings share.
