An Arab ambassador had his marriage annulled after discovering his veiled wife had a beard and was cross-eyed.
According to the Gulf News, the ambassador told a court he didn’t get a chance to look at his future wife’s face until after they were married.
He said the few times the two did meet she was wearing a garment that covered all of her face except for a thin slit for the eyes.
The man claimed he was tricked by his mother-in-law who he says showed pictures of his wife’s sister instead.
The ambassador said after the marriage contract was signed, he kissed the bride, and discovered what he called a beard and said that her eyes were crossed. The court ruled that the man was indeed mislead and granted him a divorce.
However the man didn’t get back the nearly $150,000 he said he had spent on jewelry and gifts.
