I don’t know what prompted former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson to become a spokesman for Extenze, the company that claims its product improves male performance.
Whatever the reasons, another ad is featuring Johnson being interviewed by an attractive female posing as a sideline reporter, with the former coach proclaiming the benefits of Extenze.
Frankly, I’m a little disappointed a successful coach and a supposedly well educated man would promote a questionable product like Extenze.
It seems odd for a man like Johnson to buy into the hype of a product whose ingredients are primarily made up of natural herbs that can be found in any health food store.
That Johnson would align himself with a company that once used porn actor Ron Jeremy to promote its product is perplexing to say the least.
The benefits of taking Extenze have been under great scrutiny since the product first appeared on the market.
Makers of Extenze were fined $300,000 in 2006 for unfair business practices and false advertising.
Many respected physicians have scoffed at the company’s inferences that it would “increase size”.
I’m sure he was paid handsomely for his services, but Johnson is a wealthy man. I can’t believe he agreed to become a spokesman because he needed the money.
Johnson is said to be an “unabashed” user of Extenze and that’s certainly his choice to make. If he truly believes the product is putting more lead in his pencil, so be it.
But unlike fellow Fox NFL Sunday hosts Howie Long and Michael Strahan who shill for respected national brands like Chevrolet and Subway, you’d think Johnson would have used better judgment before he agreed to become a spokesman for Extenze.
Now that two separate ads are running, Johnson won’t be able to hide from the increased scrutiny he’s going to receive once the NFL season begins in September.
