Dan Abrams, founder of the political website Mediaite, announced on Wednesday that he will launch a new sports-themed site titled SportsGrid later this month.
SportsGrid will cover the latest sports news but will introduce the Power Grid, an “all-in-one argument starter”, as the site’s primary focus.
Abrams said the Power Grid will pit sports figures against one another in terms of their popularity among the fans.
The site will use a variety of metrics to determine the rankings of each sports figure.
The Power Grid will provide close to real time rankings as events happen within the sports world.
“We’ll have that master buzz ranking and also smaller ones within specific sports and segments,” Abrams said.
SportsGrid will feature articles from Dan Fogarty and Glenn Davis, among others.
Fogarty and Davis were the subject of an article posted on MoonDog Sports in March highlighting their list of the top 25 sports bloggers on the Internet.
