NFL, MLB Games Attract Stripper-Mobile

The man who brought us the stripper-mobile plans to bring it back to Las Vegas but officials say they’ll try to enact a permanent ban on the traveling strip show.

Larry Beard, the man who came up with the idea of a truck featuring strippers dancing in a lighted Plexiglas box to advertise local strip clubs, said he wants to bring it back after a national “tour” to participate in Las Vegas’ April 30 Pride Parade, the Las Vegas Sun reported Sunday.

The truck debuted in November 2009 with dancers from the Deja Vu and Little Darlings strip clubs, but when Clark County commissioners complained, Beard took it off the streets.

Since then, the stripper-mobile was seen at the NFC championship game between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings, then headed to Miami for Super Bowl XLIV.

Beard said he hopes to have it back in Las Vegas in time for the parade, an annual gay pride celebration.

“I’d like to run it up and down the road a couple times,” Beard said. “If I get half a chance, you know, I will.”

Clark County Commission members say they want to rewrite an existing law to keep the stripper-mobile off the streets for good, the Sun reported.stripper mobile

Baseball fans in St. Louis and Baltimore were treated to more than peanuts and crackerjacks when the stripper-mobile was spotted near baseball stadiums in both cities.

According to the Belleville News Democrat’s website, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is not happy with the strippermobile’s daytime runs, writing on his blog:

“A very angry visitor from … well, she didn’t say where she was from, but she was from somewhere else … sent me a note this week complaining about an experience she had here last weekend.

Leaving a ballgame at Busch Stadium and heading back to her hotel, she encountered the “stripper mobile” that occasionally drives through crowds trolling for customers for an East Side club.

You have probably seen it before: truck, Plexiglas walls, garish paint job, pole, women in scanty clothing. She had never seen it before and was upset. She also did not like the images painted on the side of the truck.”

Reporter Laura Vozzella with the Baltimore Sun suggested that you may have seen the last of the stripper-mobile.

Vozzella wrote “the converted U-Haul truck outfitted with a Plexiglas box, sort of like the Popemobile. But this vehicle is outfitted with a stripper’s pole and a bunch of itsy-bitsy-bikini-clad dancers doing – what else? – pole dancing.

It was last seen rolling around Camden Yards as a game was letting out, treating fans to more action than the Orioles seem capable of providing.”

Speaking to Orioles spokeswoman Monica Barlow, she wondered if the team was concerned that the stripper-mobile might detract from the fan experience. “In our view, this is an issue for the city, so we are not able to comment,” she said.
