Future College Football Schedules 2011-2022

Nearly two years ago we posted an article featuring some of the marquee college football games scheduled well into the future. In a follow-up to that post, I compiled another list of the more attractive games scheduled into the next decade.

As with most major BCS programs, you’ll see a pattern throughout the future schedules. Most of the automatic qualifying BCS teams will schedule at least one and sometimes two non-conference games against another BCS opponent.

Since the 12-game schedule became the norm, most BCS programs will play one or two major non-conference opponents, their conference schedule of between seven and nine games, and then two or three cupcakes to round out the slate.

Obviously you’re not going to see a full 12-game schedule too much beyond the 2012 season, but you can get a good idea of what a team’s schedule will look like taking into account their conference schedules and some of the major non-conference games.

For informational purposes, I went through the schedules of every BCS program, both the automatic qualifiers and the non-automatic qualifiers.

A special note regarding Notre Dame – I could almost post every game on their schedule from now until infinity. I listed some of their marquee games but if you’d like to see their future schedules in greater detail, click here.

I also included a list of non-automatic qualifying teams who have scheduled some major BCS opponents in the future that bear praise.

For example, Wyoming isn’t exactly a traditional college football power, but they’re set to play perhaps the toughest non-conference schedule for the foreseeable future.

Among the teams that have done a good job of putting together tough schedules for years to come include Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee, Oregon, Nebraska, Oregon State, Virginia Tech, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin and Texas A&M.
