Jury Convicts Man For Murder of Memphis Tigers Football Player

After deliberating until late Sunday, a jury convicted one of the men accused of participating in the murder of former Memphis Tigers football player Taylor Bradford.

Former University of Memphis student Devin Jefferson has been convicted of First Degree Murder in the perpetration of a felony, for the robbery and murder of Bradford.

The charge carries an automatic life sentence.

Prosecutors said Jefferson was the mastermind behind Bradford’s death. They say he had three of his friends rob and kill Bradford in 2007.

Bradford was shot and killed while sitting in his car on the University of Memphis campus in September 2007.

Three other suspects will also be tried for Bradford’s murder. Suspect Victor Trezevant is tentatively set to go on trial December 6, 2010.

After the verdict was reached, Bradford’s family drove to Nashville and visited Taylor’s grave.
