I was cruising around the channels and came across Hot Shots! Part Deux a while back, a film that starred Charlie Sheen and the luscious Valeria Golino.
Like many people who watched those Hot Shots! movies, I didn’t know who Golino was at that time.
She was born in Naples, Italy and remained there for several years. She moved to Athens, Greece with her mother for a short time but returned to Naples and began a career in modeling.
Golino never studied acting but landed the lead role in the 1985 film Piccoli fuochi. The following year she won the Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival for her role in Storia d’amore.
She worked in European films for another two years before landing her first major role in a U.S. film, playing Tom Cruise’s girlfriend in the 1988 movie Rain Man.
She played Sheen’s therapist Ramada Thompson in the first Hot Shots! movie in 1991 and reprised her role in the 1993 Hot Shots! Part Deux.
In the video clip below from the first Hot Shots! movie, Golino utters one of her many memorable lines.
When Sheen asks if she’s been with a man before, Golino says she’s a virgin, but she’s not very good at it.
