Monique Alexander, one of the few chicks working in porn that has enjoyed success in mainstream entertainment, celebrates her 28th birthday today.

Alexander began working in the adult entertainment industry as a stripper in Sacramento when she was 18. She appeared in several adult magazines in the early 2000s and began to appear at several adult Web sites, the first of which was Earl Miller.

She started performing in adult films in 2001 exclusively appearing in lesbian scenes. Later that year she became a contract performer for Sin City.

Alexander was next seen in several softcore erotic films produced by HBO and Cinemax such as Hotel Erotica, The Sex Spa, Sex House and Voyeur: Inside Out.

She also appeared in a mainstream film titled Spider’s Web with Stephen Baldwin and Kari Wuhrer in 2002.

Alexander became a contract performer for Vivid Entertainment in 2004 and remained with the company until 2009. After spending the first four years of her porn career appearing only in lesbian scenes, she began appearing in hardcore scenes in 2005.

Alexander made a cameo appearance in the Season 3 finale of the HBO series Entourage and in 2007 she became a sports reporter on National Lampoon Comedy Radio’s The Phil Show.

She’s appeared on CNN to discuss the porn industry and she was invited on Red Eye With Greg Gutfeld in 2007 to discuss a recent nonpartisan study that finds abstinence-only programs for teens do not work, whereas safe sex education programming is highly successful.

In February 2008, Alexander and Ron Jeremy represented the porn industry in a debate at Yale University against pornography opponents Craig Gross and Donnie Pauling.

Since leaving Vivid, Alexander continues to perform in hardcore scenes with her most recent work appearing at adult Web sites Naughty America and Brazzers.
