Actor Nicolas Cage is another in a long list of stupid celebrities that have failed to pay taxes and ultimately blame business managers or financial advisers for their troubles.
On Wednesday, the state of California levied a delinquent tax claim against Cage for $3.8 million.
That amount, in addition to the IRS claiming Cage has $6.2 million in unpaid taxes from 2007, brings the total to $10 million.
Cage predictably blamed financial mismanagement for his money woes and is currently embroiled in a legal wrangle with his former business manager Samuel Levin.
I like Nicolas Cage and dig most of the films he’s done, but the average person pays taxes every year so there’s no reason he can’t.
For the life of me I don’t understand why so many of these celebrities use business managers to oversee their financial affairs.
We hear this time and again where a business manager failed to properly, you know, manage, yet celebrities continue to put their trust in people to administer millions of dollars who have consistently failed.
And another thing – I know these celebrities can read, can’t they read the tax laws? You can visit the IRS Web site and they’ll provide everything you need for free!
Paying taxes is not your business manager’s fault. It’s the responsibility of every American to pay their taxes – I do it, millions of everyday Americans do it and so can you Nicky boy.
I’ve got no sympathy for Cage or any other stupid celebrity embroiled in tax troubles. If you’re too stupid to manage your own affairs, that’s not my fault.
