Terrell Owens Says Characterizations of Him ‘Unfair’

NFL free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens visited the NFL Network on Friday, appearing on NFL Total Access with Rich Eisen.

Owens, who last season played with the Buffalo Bills, has remained unsigned since the NFL free agency period began in March.

But the hot topic of course was why Owens had yet to be signed, blaming his “hated persona” as the main cause of his failure to find a team willing to employ him.

Owens said the characterizations of him were unfair and cited his image as a “cancer” on teams as the primary reason why he has remained unsigned.

Owens insisted his cancer image was far from his true personality as a teammate and a person.

“The teams I’ve been on, if you ask in that locker room how I’ve been as a teammate and as a person, it’s contradictory to what’s been displayed out there.” Owens said.

Reports indicated Cincinnati and the Baltimore are the most likely destinations for the veteran wide receiver, who excelled during stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, but drew criticism for comments about his quarterbacks.

Another topic Owens discussed with Eisen, Warren Sapp and Rod Woodson was the trade that sent former teammate Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins.

Owens confirmed he and McNabb are open to a reunion in Washington.

“That was something I welcome with open arms, and he as well. If that was a situation to come about and that would happen, we know what we could do on the football field together,” Owens said regarding a possible reunion with McNabb.
